Aline Schaffar supports Pew Bertarelli Ocean Legacy's marine conservation work in New Caledonia and French Polynesia, where she works with governments, local partners, and stakeholders to advance ambitious marine conservation initiatives and strengthen ocean protection across the Pacific.

Previously, Schaffar worked in the research sector for nearly 10 years, focusing on marine mammal monitoring. After leading several scientific projects in Hawaii, Canada, and New Zealand, she developed a study on the impact of whale watching on humpback whales in New Caledonia for the nonprofit Association Opération Cétacés. In close collaboration with the Environmental Division for New Caledonia's South Province, she supported the implementation of a management program for this tourism activity.

Schaffar holds a master’s degree in zoology from Massey University in New Zealand and has published a wide range of scientific articles and reports.
