Jamie Gibbon leads The Pew Charitable Trusts’ efforts to improve compliance and increase monitoring of fisheries on the high seas. He also supports Pew’s work to build a sustainable and community-led seaweed farming sector. He is also part of the team working to build a foundation for sustainable and inclusive development of seaweed farming in Alaska and British Columbia, which will provide economic, social, and environmental benefits to coastal communities and ecosystems.

Before coming to Pew, Gibbon carried out field research in Hawaii and New England, studying the population dynamics and behaviors of the local humpback whale populations.

Gibbon holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wake Forest University and a master’s in environmental science and management from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
