Jennifer McPartland, Ph.D, directs Pew's safer chemicals project, which aims to reduce Americans’ exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals.

Before joining Pew, McPartland was the vice president of mission at Counter, a beauty and personal care brand dedicated to promoting a safer cosmetics industry. In this role, she managed the company's safety, sustainability, and advocacy programs. Prior to Counter, McPartland spent over a decade at Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) as a senior scientist in the healthy communities program. At EDF, she supported the organization's efforts to advance policy, market, and science-based solutions to protect human health and the environment from harmful chemical exposures. In doing so, she focused on reform and implementation of the Toxic Substances Control Act, the development and implementation of major retailer chemicals management programs, and the advancement of chemical assessment methods. 

McPartland has been a member of several federal advisory panels and committees, as well as advisory groups for industry, academia, and advocacy. She served as a congressional science policy fellow in the office of Representative Diana DeGette.

McPartland holds a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Chicago.
