Liz Farmer
Liz Farmer is a senior officer with Pew’s Fiscal 50 interactive platform and manages content for the “Budget Threads” series, which offers timely policy insights on how economic and policy developments affect state finances. She also helps manage key data-driven research on trends in states’ long-term liabilities and the budget impact these obligations have for states.
Before joining Pew, Farmer worked as a fiscal policy journalist, writing about the ways state and local governments spend taxpayer dollars for outlets including Governing, Forbes, and Route Fifty. Farmer was also a research fellow at the Rockefeller Institute of Government’s Future of Labor Research Center and worked with former Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Mark Funkhouser at Funkhouser & Associates.
Farmer holds a bachelor’s degree in American history, film, and television production from the George Washington University and a master’s in journalism from the University of Maryland.
