Lila Hobbs
Lila Hobbs works on Pew's seaweed farming project, where she helps build the foundation for a sustainable and inclusive seaweed farming industry that delivers social, environmental, and economic benefits to coastal communities in Alaska. She brings deep expertise in cross-sector collaboration, building partnerships among Tribes, government agencies, nonprofits, and industry leaders to shape responsible policies and ensure that Indigenous leadership and perspectives are central to decision-making.
Before joining Pew, Hobbs worked at an Indigenous-led nonprofit in Alaska, where she supported community-driven renewable energy initiatives and regulatory reforms to address high energy costs and structural barriers facing Indigenous and rural communities. She also worked as a legislative aide in the Alaska state Legislature, with Agnew::Beck Consulting, and at the Gates Foundation.
Hobbs holds a bachelor's degree in international relations from the University of St Andrews in Scotland and a postgraduate certificate in global health from Johns Hopkins University. She is based in Anchorage, Alaska.
