Maximiliano Sepúlveda

Maximiliano Sepúlveda, Ph.D.
Senior Officer
Conserving the Pantanal and Gran Chaco
The Pew Charitable Trusts

Maximiliano Sepúlveda supports Pew’s conservation work in South America's Pantanal and Gran Chaco regions as well as the Enduring Earth initiative’s efforts in Latin America and the Caribbean. In this role, he focuses on strengthening the effective management, governance, and monitoring of protected areas at two levels: the system through which this important work is organized and the sites themselves. Sepúlveda also helps advance conservation planning and develop sustainable finance solutions, including by promoting the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Green List while supporting Chile’s sustainability-linked bond (SLB) framework; these efforts led to the first SLB in the world aligned with the “30 by 30” target—the global goal to protect at least 30% of the world’s land and ocean by 2030. Sepúlveda holds a Ph.D. in veterinary sciences from the University of Minnesota and is based in Santiago, Chile.
