2013 Pew scholar Manu Prakash is included among MIT Technology Review’s list of “35 Innovators Under 35” for 2014. Every year, the technology publication compiles a list of young inventors, visionaries, humanitarians, pioneers, and entrepreneurs who are addressing significant challenges in their fields.

Prakash was selected for his work as a visionary who engineers tools to make science more accessible and affordable to non-scientists and those in remote locations. As an assistant professor of bioengineering at Stanford University, his innovations include an inexpensive paper microscope, a smartphone app to detect oral cancers, and a chemistry set made from music box parts.
