Effective State and Federal Policies Can Help Protect Americans From Harmful Chemicals
Pew experts regularly provide input on proposed government actions to support better decision-making
Every day, Americans are exposed to a variety of harmful substances, including endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), through plastic food packaging, drinking water, children’s toys, medical equipment, and a host of other products. EDCs interfere with human hormones and have been linked to an array of health effects, including reproductive disorders, cancers, diabetes, and heart disease.
To help reduce these exposures, The Pew Charitable Trusts advances public policies to help protect people from the harm these chemicals can cause. Pew’s work includes providing public comments on a range of EDC-related proposals at the state and federal levels.
The comments and testimonies collected here can help clarify fundamental elements of effective EDC policymaking and provide decision-makers with a clearer understanding of the science that underpins those elements.
